Meet our Directors: 

        Richard C. (Dick) Beagley is retired from United Space Alliance where he served as the Vice President of Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. In this role Beagley was responsible for safety, quality, and mission assurance for the International Space Station and Space Shuttle programs, and for developing and maintaining total quality systems throughout USA. During his career with United Space Alliance, Dick also served in dual positions as Director of Manufacturing, Overhaul and Repair in Integrated Logistics, as well as Manufacturing Process Owner for USA company-wide. Prior to assuming these positions with United Space Alliance, Beagley was Director of Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance for USBI, a division of United Technologies, for 10 years before the company was transitioned to USA in 1999 to become the Solid rocket Booster (SRB) Element. He also held the additional responsibility of managing the Quality Assurance and Environmental Health and Safety activities as a Center of Excellence for Pratt & Whitney Space Propulsion Operations. Prior to joining USBI, Beagley held numerous management positions in aerospace and other fields. He was a System Safety Supervisor and Test Conductor during the Apollo program and left the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in 1971 to become Administrative Assistant to the Attorney General of Florida. In 1979, he returned to KSC as Manager of System Safety for Rockwell International on the Space Shuttle Program. In this position, Beagley was directly involved in the planning for the first 10 Space Shuttle launches and landings. In 1984 he became Manager of Industrial Hygiene, Safety and Technical Training at Rockwell’s nuclear operations in Hanford, Washington. Following the Challenger accident in 1986, he returned to the Shuttle program with Rockwell, transferring to Downey, California to manage several return-to-flight projects. In 1988 he came back to KSC to manage the transition of the Orbiter Logistics Contract from California to Florida. Throughout his career Beagley has been very active in community affairs. Beagley is a Past Chairman for the Brevard Community College Board of Governors, National Space Club Florida, and Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and continues to be an active member of these boards. He also served as the Chairman of the Rolling College Advisory Board. Currently, Beagley is co-Chair for the Prevent of Brevard Jamboree and serves on the Board of Trustees to the Museum of Art & Science, as well as the Health First Foundation Heart Institute Advisory Board. He is also co-chairing a fundraiser to help restore the Cocoa Village Playhouse. Dick is a recipient of the coveted NASA Public Service Award and the National Space Club’s Debus Award. A graduate of Eastern Washington University, Beagley resides in Merritt Island with his wife Gail.        

R. Van Bogan is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of FBC Bancorp, Inc. and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Florida Bank of Commerce, Orlando, Florida.  Mr. Bogan retired from SouthTrust Bank in 2004.  His 40 year banking career has included responsibilities as Chairman, President and CEO of SouthTrust Bank, Orlando.  Previous to SouthTrust, Mr. Bogan was President and CEO with Citizens and Southern National Bank in Orlando.  He has also served as President and CEO for Fidelity Bank in Carmel, Indiana. Mr. Bogan is director emeritus, past chair of the University of Central Florida Foundation, Inc.  He is also the past chairman, and presently a director of the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce, past chair of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Central Florida, past board member of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Heart of Florida United Way, Orlando Housing Authority and American Bankers Association.  In 2007, he was appointed by the Governor to serve on the board of Space Florida A 1968 graduate of the University of Illinois, Mr. Bogan received his undergraduate degree in finance and later completed graduate work toward a masters of business administration at Butler University.  Mr. Bogan began his banking career in 1968 as a management trainee for Indiana National Bank, Indianapolis, prior to opening Fidelity Bank of Indiana.  Mr. Bogan is also a 1991 graduate of Leadership Florida and a 1993 graduate of Leadership Orlando.

Michael J. Coleman is a newspaper management consultant and serves as chairman of Cool Media Consulting, of Melbourne, FL. He recently retired as chairman, CEO and Publisher of  FLORIDA TODAY and a variety of other publications in Brevard County, FL.  At the time of his retirement, he was also  senior group president for the two-dozen South Newspaper Group for the Gannett Company.  He has been involved in a number of professional and civic organizations, including Newspaper Association of America, the American Society of Newspaper Editors and Florida Press Association.  He chaired the Newspaper Association of America International Technical Affairs Committee and is a Senator of IFRA, a European-based international association of newspaper management. He serves as a trustee of The Newseum in Washington, D.C., and of the Freedom Forum’s Diversity Institute, based in Nashville, TN. He is a director of The King Center for the Performing Arts Center in Melbourne and has chaired several times the Brevard Cultural Alliance, United Way of Brevard Board of Directors and was an executive board member of Brevard County’s Economic Development Commission. Mr. Coleman is a director of:  DENTSPLY, International (NASDAQ: XRAY), a York (PA)-based leading international manufacturer of dental supplies and equipment; Ron Jon Surf Shops Worldwide, a Cocoa Beach (FL)-based surf sport retailer; and Prime Bank of Melbourne, FL. He and his wife, Mary Louise, have two sons and live in Cocoa Beach, FL.

            Bjornar Hermansen has pursued a career in the international cruise shipping industry for over 20 years.  While working as a senior executive for Norwegian Caribbean Lines in Miami starting in 1972 he was elected vice chairman and chairman of the International Cruiseline Association and served in this capacity for many years.  Mr. Hermansen then started his own cruiseline, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Inc. in Europe.  In 1982, having returned to the United States, Mr. Hermansen co-founded Premier Cruise Lines, Inc., which he managed as its President until it was taken over by a major U.S. corporation in 1992.  Since then Mr. Hermansen has started several successful business ventures in Brevard County, building and owning hotels, starting a free trade zone warehousing and distribution company, participating in several land and property developments and office buildings and participating as a major shareholder and director in developing a local bank in Brevard.  Mr. Hermansen has been married to his wife Bjorg for 34 years and they have three sons 

            Tom Hermansen currently works with a private real-estate development group with interests in hotels, commercial and residential projects in Central Florida.  As a consultant for one year, he served as Director of Finance for Tsar Nicoulai Caviar, Inc., an importer / producer of caviar and other fine foods.  Tom Hermansen also worked for two years as a research analyst for Chase Securities, Inc, the investment banking division of Chase Manhattan Bank.  He received his BSBA with concentrations in finance and management from Georgetown University’s School of Business.  

            John Kancilia was born in 1950 in Trinidad, Colorado. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1972. On active duty in the Air Force, Mr. Kancilia served as a Contracting Officer in armed forces procurement. He obtained a masters degree in business administration from Butler University in 1975 and graduated from the Delaware Law School of Widener University, cum laude, in 1980. In law school, he was an associate editor of its law review, the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. He returned to law school at the University of Miami where he received a master of laws (LL.M.) in taxation from the University of Miami (Florida) School of Law in 1990 with a grade point average of 4.0. Mr. Kancilia is a shareholder of the law firm Gray-Harris, which he joined in December 2000. He has been designated as a board certified Health Lawyer by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Kancilia was able to obtain certification due to his experience of representation in health care matters, compilation of a significant number of continuing legal education credits in law and passing a comprehensive examination in health law. His educational background also qualifies him to handle a number of corporate and tax related matters including tax representation before the Internal Revenue Service and complex mergers and acquisitions. As a Board Certified Health Lawyer, Mr. Kancilia is able to use his corporate and tax law background in large medical ventures.  He is active in several civic organizations including the American Heart Association, the Kiwanis Club and Melbourne Central Catholic High School.   

            Dana Kilborne is the President and CEO of Prime Bank which she founded three years ago with local business owners and community leaders.  She is also Executive Vice President and a Director of FBC Holding, Inc. in Orlando. She has approximately twenty -two years of experience in the financial services industry in Florida.  She began her career in South Florida where she worked for several South Florida financial institutions.  Her work in South Florida took her to Brevard County in the mid-1990’s in conjunction with bank acquisition work.  While serving as Chief Loan Administrator –Commercial Banking -Florida for Wachovia Bank, she relocated to Brevard County to lead the Central Region Commercial Banking Team.  In that capacity, she also served as Brevard County Executive overseeing banking operations in the County.   She earned a B.S. Degree in Finance from Canisius College and a Master’s Degree in Banking the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.  Her thesis was published and was entitled “Mergers and Acquisitions Handbook for the Community Banker.”  She is active in community activities and over her career has served on the board of many organizations including the United Way Board, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Reaching Out Board, Arthritis Foundation, Junior Achievement, Brevard Community College Foundation and Downtown Development Authority of West Palm Beach.    

            Malcolm Kirschenbaum was born and raised in Miami where he graduated from Miami Senior High School.  He married his wife, Jane, in 1962.  After receiving his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Florida, he was employed by a C.P.A. firm in Cocoa, Florida.  Mr. Kirschenbaum then entered the University of Florida Law School, graduated in 1964 and started his practice in Brevard County.  He is a business lawyer with extensive experience in banking and real estate law, as well as transportation issues.  Mr. Kirschenbaum was a founding director of The Merritt Island Bank, the Merritt Square Bank and served as Chairman of the United National Bank.  Mr.. Kirschenbaum was also an original shareholder in Prime Bank and Reliance Bank and has served as bank counsel for numerous other Brevard County based banks.   He served as Chairman of the Florida High Speed Rail Transportation Commission and the Florida Transportation Commission.  He is of counsel to GrayRobinson, Attorneys at Law, Co-owner of EKS, Inc., a real estate development company, Vice Chairman of Ron Jon Surf Shop, Inc., and a member of The Freedom Forum and Newseum Board of Trustees where he is Chairman of the Finance/Investment Committee.   

                        Jim Swann, a Tampa native, now living on Merritt Island, currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Eckerd Youth Alternatives, one of the nation’s leading non-profit organizations dedicated to helping at-risk youth.  He is also currently a Board Member and Past Chairman of The Florida Nature Conservancy.  He has a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and has served on the boards of numerous organizations including the St. John’s Water Management District, Eckerd College, the Governor’s Commission on the Future of Florida’s Environment and the Brevard County 201-208 Planning Commission.  Jim Swann was a director of Prime Bank in Brevard County which was ultimately sold to Colonial Bank. Mr. Swann was also a founding shareholder of Reliance Bank.   He has lived in Brevard County for approximately 32 years. 

                       Judy Rockwell Willeke has lived in Brevard County for 53 years and began her business career in 1964 while attending college at Brevard Community College.  She began working in a variety of positions with Sub Bank and eventually became vice President.  She held that position until 1979 and in that same year, she left Sun Bank to take over the presidency of City National Bank.  She held that position until the bank sold out to Southeast Bank where she assumed the role of executive vice president until 1988.  In 1988, Ms Willeke went to work for TGO Realty in Titusville, Florida.  Today she is a stockholder and managing director of TGO Realty.  Throughout her business career, she has served on the boards of Wuestoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida, the Salvation Army and the March of Dimes.  She presided over the local chapter of the American Institute of Banking.  She is married and has one child.  Ms. Willeke is very active in her church and along with her husband, founded Brevard Senior Care which is a non-profit organization that takes care of Alzheimer, stroke and head injury patients.  She serves in and advisory capacity to the board of this organization as well.
