Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams and Peer to Peer Networking

At Prime Bank, we are committed to protecting your financial interests with secure technology and educate you with "best practices" for staying secure on the Internet. As a Prime Bank Internet Banking customer, we want to make you aware of the increasing use of "phishing" and "spoofing" and peer-to-peer network programs used to obtain sensitive personal information.

"Phishing" is a type of fraud where an e-mail asks you, often with a sense of urgency, to click a link to update or confirm your sensitive personal information, such as your account numbers, card numbers, social security/tax identification numbers, passwords, or PINs. The link goes to a fake or "spoof" website designed to look like a legitimate company.

For your protection, we have removed all links to log in to Prime Bank Internet Banking from our e-mails. Prime Bank e-mails will not ask you to update or confirm your sensitive information by clicking a link or replying.

To protect yourself from going to a spoofed website, type http://www.primebankfl.com into your browser when you login to Internet Banking, instead of clicking a link in an e-mail. We encourage you to monitor your accounts by logging in to Internet Banking on a regular basis - this is a very effective way to detect fraud.

In addition, please make sure that all computers used to access your Internet Banking accounts have up to date virus protection and contain no peer-to-peer (P2P) applications such as Kazaa, Grokster, Morpheus, BitTorrent, MUTE, Blubster, and Filetopia. These programs are commonly used to share music files but they also open up your computer to viruses, Trojan horses and worms that could result in a Key Logging virus or other malicious code being installed on the computer and hence an intruder gathering your personal information including passwords.

If you ever receive a suspicious e-mail supposedly from Prime Bank, please call 321-751-6999.

Thank you.
